The Women were trained on Sheep & Goat raring and its management Practices and marketing tie-ups. The department of Animal Husbandry supported in technical issues and the trained 150 women will be federated in to a Producer Company and make them to entrepreneurs.
The LEDP program for 150 SHG Women in Krishna District is a great initiative to promote entrepreneurship and livelihood development in the region. The program, with the support of NABARD and the Department of Animal Husbandry, aims to train and equip women with the necessary skills and resources to become successful entrepreneurs in the field of sheep and goat rearing. The program also focuses on marketing tie-ups and the formation of a producer company, which will enable the women to pool their resources and take collective decisions. Through this initiative, the women will not only be able to earn a decent livelihood but also contribute to the development of the agriculture sector in the region.
To successfully implement the program, the SHG members need to be provided with regular training and exposure visits to successful sheep and goat farms and markets. The department of Animal Husbandry can play a key role in providing technical support and expertise in areas such as breed selection, feeding, disease management, and marketing. The women can also explore value addition opportunities and diversify their income streams. It is important to establish linkages with buyers of the sheep and goat produce, such as meat and wool, and ensure a steady demand for the products. By federating the women into a producer company, they can benefit from economies of scale and access government schemes and subsidies. Overall, the LEDP program is a promising initiative that can transform the lives of the women and create a more sustainable and resilient agriculture sector in the region.
